Department of Nursing at National Taipei College of Nursing Taiwan

The programs have been designed based on students’ different previous experiences and potential abilities in nursing, cooperated with potential and actual demand from the job market, and students’ career planning. The content includes bachelor and master courses to increase students’ nursing and professional credibility as qualified personnel to serve the healthcare organizations and communities.

Features

Department of nursing provides the most elective course for the versatile development and career planning of the students. The program contains 12 pairs of nursing courses targeted in both general and specialty requirements to meet both students’ achievements needs and markets’ demand. The joint and internationalized programs have started in 2002 to encourage students participate in learning activities oversea. The advanced English courses have been designed and integrated into general courses and daily activities to enhance students’ English comprehension and the ability in competition internationally.

Programs


Undergraduate

Undergraduate students in the two-year and 4-year programs have to complete 72 and 140 credits respectively including general required courses (in language, sociology, mathematics and art), basic specialty, professional specialty and core requirements. The 12 professional specialty courses include the following: advanced medical-surgical nursing, long term care, pediatrics, ob-gyn, oncology, geriatrics, acute and critical care, mental health, school health, occupational health and community health courses in nursing.

Graduate School

The department of nursing offers master programs in adult health nursing, gerontology nursing, psychiatric nursing, women health, pediatrics nursing, community health nursing, and nursing informatics. The department also invited prestigious scholars from United States and Australia to provide internal nursing courses in International health policy and practice, alternative treatments, professional courses for nurse practitioners. The goals are to cultivate leaders with versatile perspectives for nursing practice in the currency of international nursing development. The teaching strategy applied the self-learning contract model to motive students’ self-learning, critical thinking and creativity. Students must complete a minimum of 40 credits for master degree.
