Nursing Degree at University of Insubria Italy

The purpose of this three-year degree is to educate professionals for the Italian General Nurse qualification (Registered Nurse) needed to practice as staff nurse in Italy and all EU countries.
This degree allows to attend further education in some clinical fields (1st level master, i.e. Intensive care nursing, Geriatric Nursing) and in Nursing and Midwifery Sciences (2nd level degree, i.e. to work as Nurse manager, Nurse Teacher).
In 2006/07 the first PhDs in Nursing Sciences started in Italy. However, in this University, only the first level degree is actually available.

This course includes attendance to lectures, seminars, laboratory to learn practice skills, and clinical training. Clinical placements in Hospital units and other Health services to gain experience in the main general clinical fields (medicine, surgery, paediatrics) as well as some more specialist units (i.e. first aid, intensive care units, E.N.T., cardiology) are arranged in many Hospitals in Varese Province and Milan.

General nurses are involved in the identification of health needs of individuals and the community; they assess people to identify nursing needs, define nursing objectives, plan, actuate and evaluate nursing interventions.
Graduates are responsible for the correct administration of diagnostic and therapeutic prescriptions and work alone or in collaboration with other health care professionals.
General nurses gain basic knowledge and skills to collaborate in health care research and use the most recent research results to guarantee best practice.
