Scholarships of Nursing at Alvernia College Pennsylvania

Merit Scholarships. The following scholarships are awarded to qualified first-year applicants:
Presidential Scholarship. To be awarded this $12,000 scholarship, the recipient must have a minimum of 1130 SAT* (or 25 ACT) and a minimum 3.5 GPA.

Trustees’ Scholarship.
To be awarded this $10,000 scholarship, the recipient must have a minimum of 1050 SAT* (or 23 ACT) and a minimum 3.2 GPA.

Veronica Founder’s Scholarship.
To be awarded this $6,000 scholarship, the recipient must have a minimum of 980 SAT* (or 21 ACT) and 3.0 GPA.

*SAT scores are calculated using combined critical reading and math scores.

Partnership Awards.
The following are awarded to qualified first-year applicants based upon the student’s high school. Partnership awards are given to students who enter Alvernia within one year of high school graduation. Students receiving merit scholarships (as listed above) are not eligible for Partnership Awards. Students are only eligible for one Partnership Award.
PACE (Partners in Catholic Education). This $4,000 award is given to students who graduate from a Catholic high school.

Community Outreach Award.
This $4,000 award is awarded to students who are a resident or a graduate of high school within the following Pennsylvania counties: Berks, Chester, Lancaster, Lebanon, Lehigh, Montgomery, and Schuylkill.

ROTC Scholarship. Alvernia University is in collaboration with Lehigh University’s ROTC program. Army ROTC scholarships are merit based and provide money for tuition, books and other expenses. Alvernia University provides free room and board for high school winners of three and four-year advance Tier I scholarship recipients.

Transfer Scholarships.
The following are given to qualified full-time undergraduate transfer students working towards their first bachelor’s degree:
ACT (Alvernia Connects with Transfers) Scholarship. This $4,000 scholarship is given to students who have 3.0 or higher grade point average.

ARC (Alvernia and RACC Connection) Scholarship.* This $1,000 scholarship is given to students who have a 3.0 grade point average or higher that transfer from Reading Area Community College.

Phi Theta Kappa Scholarship.* This $1,000 scholarship is awarded to students holding current membership in Phi Theta Kappa.

*Students receiving the ACT Scholarship are also eligible to receive the ARC and/or Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships.

Financial Aid of Nursing at Alvernia College Pennsylvania

At Alvernia, applying for financial aid is easy. We encourage all prospective Alvernia students to apply, even if you feel you may not be eligible for assistance. About 99% of our undergraduates receive some type of financial aid, including scholarships, grants, loans, and work-study. We offer a number of merit scholarships. We request that families file the FAFSA to be considered for all aid available. The following steps should serve as guidelines in completing the financial aid application process.

Step 1.
Apply for admission to Alvernia University. Do not wait to apply for financial aid until after receiving an admissions decision. Both the admissions and financial aid applications should be submitted as early as possible. However, in order to receive a financial aid offer, you must be accepted for admission to Alvernia.

Step 2.
As soon as possible after January 1, you and your family should complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid FAFSA), which can be obtained from your high school guidance office, Alvernia’s Office of Student Financial Planning, or at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Pennsylvania residents should file the FAFSA before the May 1 state grant deadline. Be sure to list Alvernia University as one of the schools that will receive your information. Our school code is 003233. Your information will be processed and forwarded to Alvernia within approximately two weeks.

Step 3.
Once your FAFSA has been received and you have been admitted to Alvernia, a financial aid package will be prepared and mailed within 2-3 weeks. Review your financial aid package. If you have any questions, contact our Office of Student Financial Planning for assistance.

Step 4.
In addition to scholarships and grants that may be included in your award package, you may see student loan options included as well. Complete any Stafford Loan, PLUS Loan, or private loan applications as early as possible. The Stafford Loan Master Promissory Note and entrance loan counseling can can be completed at www.selectyourlender.com/alvernia.

Step 5.
Respond immediately to requests for information such as tax returns. Missing information may delay your financial aid processing.
