Nursing Degree at Dillard University Louisiana

Dillard’s highly acclaimed nursing program is the first of its kind in Louisiana. In 2007, graduates earned a 100 percent pass rate on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses.

In April 2008, the Division of Nursing was chartered as a member of the Xi Psi at-large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International, the premier Honor Society of Nursing.

Mission

The mission of the Division of Nursing is consistent with the mission of Dillard University. It is based on the belief that the profession of nursing is a primary force in the improvement of the human condition. The faculty accepts the responsibility to create and maintain an atmosphere conducive to learning and growth through the achievement of academic excellence within the framework of a liberal arts education. The faculty believes that broadly educated individuals apply knowledge through critical inquiry and critical appraisal, adapt to change, and are culturally competent. Graduates are, therefore, able to meet the competitive demands of their profession. The assessment and shaping of values is a vital part of the educational process. It increases acceptance of responsibility and accountability and promotes individual contributions to the profession and society. Preparation for practice must include opportunities that allow the individual to perform, compete and thrive in a multidimensional professional environment.

Bachelor of Science Program in Nursing at Long Island University

Our program is specifically designed to accommodate the Registered Nurse. Classes with your peers in an atmosphere of respect for the needs of the adult learner make returning to school a positive experience.

Graduates of associate degree programs in nursing receive 28 transfer credits for previous nursing education and graduates of diploma schools receive 28 credits of advanced standing towards the degree.

Transfer credits for liberal arts and sciences courses taken at other colleges or universities will be evaluated individually. A total of 72 credits (including the 28 credits of nursing) can be transferred to C.W. Post.
