Bachelor in Pedagogics of Nursing at Fachhochschule Ravensburg Weingarten

The Social Work, Health and Nursing Faculty trains teachers in nursing, obstetrics and geriatric and paediatric nursing with the bachelor’s in Pedagogics of Nursing and provides academic training on the path to becoming a nursing teacher. With this bachelor’s course, the University is providing a specific academic offer in nursing teacher training.

The educational goal of the course is to qualify nurses systematically for vocational teaching and teaching-relevant nursing tasks. A modern understanding of training and independent training goals are taken into account, along with integrative practical relevance (lectures and nursing practicals) of the profession in vocational training.

Therefore, the course qualifies for two fields of nursing activity. On the one hand for a teaching role in training and further training in the nursing profession and, on the other, for application-oriented nursing science. To strengthen the action orientation and to guarantee the highest possible practical relevance, on the teaching side the course incorporates an accompanied practical phase over 20 weeks in a later working field and practicals in the teaching-learning lab. On the nursing science side, a project is undertaken with healthcare institutions from the Lake Constance and Upper Swabia region. In addition to the pedagogical-didactical, educational and professional teaching, there is a particular focus with the main subjects on a subject-oriented consideration of nursing and teaching. Accordingly, there are detailed seminars to promote personal and social competence (e.g. conversation, rhetoric, mediation).

30 students a year are enrolled in the winter semester. The full-time Pedagogics of Nursing course lasts seven semesters, including a practical semester and concludes with the internationally recognized Bachelor of Arts (B.A.). Academic Requirements:
• 60% or better in English 30-1 (30) or 70% or better in English 30-2 (33).
• 60% or better in Pure Math 20, Math 20, Applied Math 30 or Math 33

Or:

70% or better in Applied Math 20 or Math 23.
• 60% or better in Biology 30 or 60% in Bow Valley College’s Anatomy and Physiology/ Microbiology.
• A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree from a recognized Canadian post-secondary institution will be recognized in lieu of the above requirements. Certificates and diplomas from Alberta Advanced Education approved post-secondary institutions will be considered on an individual basis by the Practical Nurse Program Coordinator.
• Applicants whose first language is not English must present a minimum score of 560 written, or 220 on the computer, on the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam. An assessment of applicants’ skills in listening and speaking English may also be required. Or complete the Bow Valley College EAP program with a grade of “B”.
• All applicants educated outside of Canada must also demonstrate that they have successfully completed the English Language, Mathematics and Science academic requirements specified above. All foreign transcripts must be assessed by the International Qualifications Assessment Service.
• Up-to-date immunization required.
• Minimum 18 years of age.
• CPR Level C Basic Rescuer.

• The Practical Nurse program is very demanding and requires that you have the mental and physical stamina to succeed. The demands of a job as a Licensed Practical Nurse will require you to:
• work shifts and weekends;
• be on your feet for extended periods of time;
• use your knees, back and arms to move clients who have minimal strength;
• function effectively in stressful situations;
• work unassisted to perform skills.
• It is strongly advised that applicants have computer access with word processing and Internet capabilities.
• Must show certificate of attendance to a medical terminology course – this is also available through Continuing Education in Bow Valley College.

College graduates seeking to enter the nursing profession can get on the “fast track” to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through a ground-breaking program at A&M-Corpus Christi.

This fall, the University’s new College of Nursing and Health Sciences launched its accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) for persons who have already earned a bachelor of science or a bachelor of arts degree. Participants graduate in 18 months instead of two years. Under the program, students will take an additional clinical course in the second and third semesters for a total of 18 semester hours. Courses and clinical hours for the accelerated program are identical to the standard program with the exception of the compressed format.

To be admitted to the program, applicants must hold either a bachelor of science or bachelor of arts in another discipline with at least a 3.0 grade point average. Candidates must also have completed the required nursing program prerequisites.

The Bachelor of Arts degree requires a minimum of 124 semester hours distributed through the three divisions of Bible and theology, General Education, and Professional Studies. Graduates must complete a core of 48 hours in general education.
This co-operative program with Columbus State Community College is planned for students who plan to combine nursing skills with missionary work either in North America or overseas. Students who successfully complete the program are qualified to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN). The Nursing program is accredited by the National League for Nursing and the North Central Association of Colleges, and is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
In order to receive a recommendation from Ohio Christian University for admission to the Nursing program at Columbus State Community College students must maintain a minimum GPA of 2.50 through all course work attempted.
Upon successful completion of the program, students are awarded an Associate of Applied Science degree from Columbus State Community College in Nursing and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Ohio Christian University.
Upon graduation from Ohio Christian University, the graduate

The Department of Nursing offers two programs in nursing education: a generic Baccalaureate Program and a Continuing Nursing Education Program. The Minnesota Intercollegiate Nursing Consortium (MINC), the nursing program at St. Olaf working in cooperation with that of Gustavus Adolphus College, offers students the opportunity to enjoy a St. Olaf education, earn a bachelor of arts degree with a major in Nursing, enroll in nursing courses with students from another college, enjoy courses taught by professors from two colleges, and have clinical learning experiences in a wide variety of local and Twin Cities medical and health care centers, long-term care facilities, community agencies, home health, and other facilities. Graduation from a bachelor of science or bachelor of arts program from an accredited college or university with a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
Graduation from a state approved associate degree program in nursing with a graduating cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better.
Current licensure as a registered nurse in the State of New York.
Successful completion of a number of prescribed undergraduate courses, including, but not limited to, statistics, physical assessment, and nursing research with grade C or higher in each.
Successful completion of an individual program of selective undergraduate nursing courses
One year full-time and appropriate employment as a registered nurse.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENT:
In order to be recommended for the M.S. degree, the candidate must meet the following requirements:
Successfully complete the prescribed graduate courses.
Maintain a cumulative average of 3.0 or better, with no more than two grades below B-. All required courses must be completed with a grade C or higher for progression in the curriculum
Demonstrate clinical competence in all course work with a practice component.
Complete prescribed course work and other requirements within seven years after matriculation.
