Tracks

RN BSN at Midway College Kentucky

The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for registered nurses (Track III) offers the qualified student a program of study which combines general education courses with professional nursing theory and more complex, and non-traditional clinical practice. Consistent with the mission and goals of the college, the BSN program prepares nurses as leaders who can provide health care and leadership to individuals. families, groups, and populations of diverse cultures in a variety of settings.

Students entering the RN-BSN completion program are RN’s who have previously earned either an associate degree or diploma in nursing and have a current Kentucky RN license. This track consists of the upper division level course work necessary to complete the baccalaureate degree in two years or less as full-time students or three years part-time.

The RN-BSN program is flexible to allow registered nurses the opportunity to attend school on a part-time or full-time basis while continuing in the work force. This affords the opportunity essential to many RN-BSN students to work while earning a baccalaureate degree.

BSN Admission Criteria
For acceptance into the RN-BSN program the student must meet the following criteria:
Complete application for admission to the college (unless continuing directly from the Midway Campus ADN program.)
Submit official college and high school transcripts as required.
Submit a copy of a current Kentucky RN license or proof of application for the license.
Be accepted by the college and complete an admission interview with the chairperson of the program or designee
Submit a current resume.
Be a graduate from an ADN or diploma program. Graduates of diploma nursing programs must complete the NLN Acceleration Challenge Exam and achieve a minimum score of 90 or the ACT/ PEP battery of classical or integrated tests, and achieve a minimum score of 45 to have nursing courses converted to college credit hours. This is a college requirement. Cost of the NLN Acceleration Challenge Exam is the responsibility of the student.
Have a GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, (2.0 on a 4.0 scale for Midway College ADN graduates who are enrolled in Track II)..
Provide evidence of current clinical practice within the last five years via:
a. Graduation certificate from a school of nursing within the past two years
b. Work experience
Provide evidence of satisfactory clinical performance. The Student Reference and Evaluation form must be received from current nursing employer or from the ADN or diploma nursing program faculty for applicants who have graduated within the last year.
Prior to admission, a student must earn a “C” or better in the required courses listed below:
a. Anatomy and Physiology I and II ( BIO 190/191 and BIO 198/199)
b. Microbiology ( BIO 225/226)
c. General Psychology (PSY 180)
d. Human Growth and Development (PSY 260)
e. English Composition I and II (ENG 101 and ENG 102)

After students completing BSN admission criteria, students may be admitted to the college and granted an interview with the chairperson (or designee) of the BSN program.

BSN Program Criteria (applicable to all BSN students)
The student must meet the following criteria:
Complete the BSN degree within five years after beginning BSN clinical nursing courses.
Provide transportation to clinical facilities.
Satisfy all college requirements for graduation.
Provide evidence of immunization or immunity to rubella, rubeola and mumps (MMR) and hepatitis, proof of varicella history or immunization, current negative PPD tuberculin test, current CPR certification, and current Kentucky license prior to the beginning of clinical courses. (Additional requirements may be dictated by some clinical sites.)
Students are encouraged to be employed in the health care setting while enrolled in classes.
A minimum grade of “C” is required in all nursing courses.
All graduation requirements for General Education and Nursing must be completed prior to Nursing 460.

RN to BSN Program at Mid America Nazarene University Kansas

The RN to BSN Completion option is a program for those who are already licensed Registered Nurses who have completed a diploma in nursing or an Associate Degree in Nursing. The RN to BSN program provides a way for RNs to complete the nursing core requirements for the BSN degree in one calendar year.

Nursing degree at Zurich University of Applied Sciences Winterthur

A full-time Bachelor’s degree programme in nursing is being offered at the Zurich University of Applied Sciences at the School of Health Professions since 2006. This degree programme is in accordance with the OPET and EU requirements, takes three years to complete, and includes coursework to an equivalent of 180 ECTS.

Nurses who already hold a diploma in nursing have the opportunity to enrol in the Bachelor’s degree programme. They will receive credit for their pre-existing nursing knowledge and skills. This programme prepares nurses for an academic and clinical career in health care and increases their international mobility.

Persons holding a diploma in nursing (registered in Switzerland - HF, AKP, PsyKP, KWS, IKP, DN II) are eligible to apply for entry into the programme. Good knowledge of the German and English language and Mathematics are warranted (equivalent to a Federal Professional Baccalaureate, not assessed but strongly recommended). The Head of the Institute makes the final decision on an individual’s admission.

The Bachelor’s degree programme for diploma nurses requires students to complete coursework equivalent to at least 90 ECTS. The programme is structured in modules:
