Nurse Practitioner Programs at University Of Rochester

The University of Rochester School of Nursing has been a leader in the nurse practitioner movement since its inception. Our former dean, Loretta C. Ford, RN, EdD, is considered the co-founder of the nurse practitioner model. We were the first to offer a formal Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program and our Pediatric Nurse Practitioner/Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program is among the first of its kind in the country.

Our Nurse Practitioner programs are consistently ranked among the finest in the nation. In fact, our Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program is ranked 10th in the nation in U.S. News & World Report Best Graduate School rankings.

Most of our students are practicing nurses who want to refine their skills and broaden their opportunities. All of them are committed professionals dedicated to providing the best possible care to patients. We have nurses who are fairly new to the profession and those with many years of experience. This combination creates a dynamic environment where students learn form each other and build networks and lasting professional relationships.
