Fees/Payment of Fees
2007/08 Fee Schedule
Fees are subject to revisions by the NVIT Board each year. Any revisions in fees will come into effect September 1, 2008.
Application Fee
None.
Tuition Fees
Academic (first & second year levels) and Career/Technical Programs:
$70.34 per credit (courses range from 2 to 6 credits each).
Academic (third & fourth year levels) Programs:
$101.73 per credit (courses range from 3 to 6 credits each).
College Readiness Program:
College Readiness courses are tuition free. Students must pay any applicable lab fees and the student activity fee (see details following).
Seniors (age 60+)
Tuition is waived subject to the “Institute Fees, Senior Citizens” policy.
*Note: Students must pay all assessed Lab/Studio and Student Activity fees.

Science Courses: $30.00 per course
Computer Courses: $30.00 per course
Student Society Fee: $20.00 per course (max. $60.00 per term and is non-refundable)
International Student Fees
Tuition per credit: $328.97 (for international students each College Readiness/Adult Basic Education course is considered equivalent to 3 credits for tuition calculation purposes).
Fee Payment Due Date
Payment is due according to the dates specified in the schedule of events. Fees can be paid by cash, cheque, money order, Passport to Education or Letter of Sponsorship from a NVIT recognized sponsor. Cheques should be made payable to NVIT.
Registration is not complete until all fees are paid.

Course aims
The curriculum’s modular basis enables the student to develop both intellectually and professionally. Nurses who already hold a professional registration can study for a second registration. This can be undertaken by attending the taught programme or through a distance learning programme of study. Students who undertake this route and successfully complete this course will obtain an additional qualification in Mental Health, Learning Disability or Adult Nursing.

Practical experiences are gained within hospitals, community settings, the voluntary sector and other health and social care organisations within Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire

Content varies according to the specific pathways chosen.
Adult nursing
The aim of the adult pathway is to produce safe and effective first level nurses who embrace the highest standards of professional conduct and ethical practice. There has been a tactical use of a range of care settings for practice experience which aims to address emerging patterns of care.
Children’s nursing
Once students enter stage two of the child pathway, all modules undertaken focus on children and are integrated with appropriate practice placements. These placements will prepare students to work in a diverse range of clinical environments, wherever children need health care.
Learning disability nursing
This pathway equips students with nursing skills to work within health and social care environments. It will also enable students to work with a wide range of other professions that care for people with learning disabilities and their families. Practice placements will be in a variety of health, education and social care settings with clients of all ages and a range of needs.
Mental health nursing
Following the foundation stage, all the modules focus on the care of individuals with mental health problems and are integrated with appropriate practice placements within hospitals and the community.
