Faculty of Nursing Science was established based on the Rector’ decree No. 1020/J06/Kep/2005 dated on 8 June 2005. It is a development of the Study Program of Nursing at the Faculty of Medicine.
Vision

to be a higher education institution in nursing as a central for science development and nursing professional that are able to compete in Southeast Asia with the excellence in critical nursing and community nursing.
Misions
To carry out education professionally managed, effective, efficient, and transparent as well as to produce graduates with high capability as scientists who can compete globally, having an ettiquete, and based on law as well as environmentally minded.
To develop scientific research on nursing for scientific and technological development of national nursing.
To carry out community services by developing an integrated system of professional nursing service within community.
To develop professional standard of nursing together with related professional organization and institution.
To develop professional nursing service in accordance with the social culture.
To link nationally and regionally in the field of nursing including in educaton, research, and community services.

Six years ago the Division of Nursing was established as a part of the Faculty of Medicine. From the beginning the Division educated professional nurses at the master degree (Master of Nursing). There were special courses for the nurses with the permission to practice to complete their education to master degree. Two years ago our Division started to educate nurses at the licentiate level. This decision was strictly related to the new state policy concerning education for nurses based on European Union regulations and directives. Current state acts and orders established three year studies of Nursing at licentiate level and additionally two years in order to apply for master degree. This year the Institute of Nursing has been created and its structure with several laboratories and departments is now to be completed.

Professional nursing lasts at least 3 years (six semesters). The whole number of didactic hours amount 4600 from which 2300 of hours have to contain the practical education and professional practice. All practical nursing subjects and trainings are conducted by experienced nurses - tutors. Medical subjects are conducted by the group of experienced professors, adjuncts and assistants.
The graduate of nursing should be prepared to the self-reliant accomplishment of the professional duties.

Bachelor of Nursing Sciences (Honors) Degree is offered by the Nursing Sciences Unit, Department of Allied Health Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya. This program covers six semesters within 3 years. This programme is specially designed for all the experienced registered nurses.

The aim of this course is to produce nursing graduates with in-depth knowledge in nursing and medical sciences. From this programme, it is hoped that more excellent nursing leaders with vision to bring greater changes in the health care system and nursing profession can be continuously produced.

The University of Concepción, aware of the importance of training high-level human resources that the country needs to achieve a sustained and growing scientific and technological development, supported the university graduate level master’s and PhD programs.

The Department of Nursing, Faculty of Medicine, University of Concepción responds by offering a Masters Program in Nursing updated according to the needs of the country and the leadership role to be fulfilled Nurse / or his performance as researcher and teacher.

The Master in Nursing Program provides insight into the discipline, emphasizing the study and critical analysis of nursing from the perspective of its philosophical and theoretical underpinning the work of the Bachelor of Nursing. Also enables you to increase scientific research, which aims to solve problems of health.

The Master in Nursing Program began in 1980 and since its inception has presented a high demand, with their 26 years of continuous operation over a hundred domestic and foreign graduates. Graduates of the MA program have been characterized by assuming a prominent leadership role in university teaching in interdisciplinary research teams and health services, being recognized at the national and international consultancies in its area of competence.

Since the adoption of the doctoral program in nursing at the University of Concepción, has added an important factor for the Masters Program. His subjects are in line with the Ph.D., a joint offering in the two post-graduate levels. This articulation has favored the interaction of students and has helped develop joint and complementary.

Kinesiology is the one career that is based on the scientific study of human movement, in understanding physiological, neurophysiological, anatomical and biomechanical. With this knowledge, the professional Kinesiólogo can participate in all processes that represent a favorable action on the human musculoskeletal system, opening in areas such as prevention, ergonomics, education, rehabilitation, sports and research.

Kinesiology career depends on the Faculty of Medicine of the Universidad Católica del Norte, Coquimbo headquarters. Its onset is based on a common plan of Bachelor of Health Sciences, in conjunction with Nutrition and Nursing, the first two years. This level of study provides a solid base of knowledge for students with innovative learning system based on problems (ABP) to strengthen professional development aimed at a suitable operating performance and empathy, working in various areas.
