College graduates seeking to enter the nursing profession can get on the “fast track” to a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through a ground-breaking program at A&M-Corpus Christi.
This fall, the University’s new College of Nursing and Health Sciences launched its accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) for persons who have already earned a bachelor of science or a bachelor of arts degree. Participants graduate in 18 months instead of two years. Under the program, students will take an additional clinical course in the second and third semesters for a total of 18 semester hours. Courses and clinical hours for the accelerated program are identical to the standard program with the exception of the compressed format.
To be admitted to the program, applicants must hold either a bachelor of science or bachelor of arts in another discipline with at least a 3.0 grade point average. Candidates must also have completed the required nursing program prerequisites.

Prelicensure BSN - Prepares the baccalaureate student to practice as a generalist who is able to utilize nursing process with clients and make independent nursing decisions in structured and unstructured settings. The program also serves as the basis for graduate study and provides a foundation for life-long learning.
RN to BSN - This program is designed for registered nurses seeking a BS in Nursing. A current Pennsylvania nursing license is required.
RN to MSN - This fast-track program for registered nurses (with the necessary prerequisites) can finish their BSN in 12 to 16 months, and then be admitted to an additional year to complete the master’s degree (MSN) in nursing.
Step Ahead - This program allows academically qualified nursing majors to earn up to 11 graduate credits while completing their undergraduate degree.

The R.N. to M.S.N. program is a fast-track option for nurses with a diploma or an Associate of Arts degree in nursing from an accredited program who want to move straight into a master’s degree program. The master’s component of the program is designed to prepare advanced-practice nurses to assume a role as an administrator, a nurse practitioner or a clinical nurse specialist, depending on the major selected.

The RN Fast Track is offered to registered nurses who are graduates of an accredited associate degree or diploma program in nursing and leads to the Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. This program offers the RN student the opportunity to acquire knowledge and skills needed for professional nursing practice in a wide variety of settings, and provides the educational foundation that is the basis for graduate study in nursing. Registered nurses who meet the admission requirements for the BSN program may complete the program in one calendar year of study.
To meet the needs of working nurses, the classes are available through two options. All classes are available on the Internet. In addition, classes are now available one day a week at the University Center in Greenville on Wednesdays. USC Upstate faculty will conduct all courses and will hold office hours at the University Center.
All RN-BSN students will complete clinicals at times convenient to them and their local preceptors.
Beginning with the fall semester, students take a total of 32 semester hours of nursing and graduate at the end of the second summer session. Students selecting part time study may take two years to complete the program.

Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or higher to be admitted into the program. Students must complete the required Defiance College general education courses as well as the nursing courses listed. The major courses will be offered in a fast-track format with courses held one day per week to accommodate various work schedules. Some courses may be offered in a hybrid format using both online and face-to-face classroom instruction. General education courses and electives are also available through Defiance’s Day/Evening and Weekend College programs.
Students will be required to take 10 credit hours in five prerequisite courses. Students will also be required to take five core nursing courses that total 21 credits. Students will graduate from Defiance with at least 120 credit hours, including credits transferred from the associate degree or any other transferable credits.
Defiance College offers one of the most affordable part-time tuition rates in the region. Students should check with their employer to see if tuition reimbursement is available.

Associate Level of Nursing Program:
The Associate program provides a comprehensive foundation of general education and nursing knowledge necessary for nursing practice and continuing professional education. The program provides the necessary skills and competencies for graduates to assume registered nursing positions in acute, rehabilitation, and long-term care agencies. This is an entry level program into nursing.
The Associate program is a six semester year-round program comprised on 72 credit hours available online or on-site (available in Columbus, OH only).

The RN-to-MS program is also ideal for associate degree holders with extra college credits, as 12 additional arts and science undergraduate credits are required for admission to the RN-to-MS program.
Bachelor’s students at SUNY Upstate may apply to the RN-to-MS fast track program, which allows completion of the bachelor’s and master’s degree in three years of full time study. Students must enroll in the program full-time in the fall semester to complete the program in 3 years - Students may enroll in the program either fall or spring semester part-time.
RNs may apply at any time during their BS degree studies. Nurses in our bachelor’s program who transition to this program are able to reduce one course from their BS degree curriculum and take two graduate level courses at undergraduate tuition rates.
