Registered nurses who have earned a diploma or associate degree in nursing and who meet all other requirements for admission into the MSN degree program are eligible to apply for this entrance option. Articulation agreements exist between Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and associate degree nursing programs. Equivalency tables have been designed showing which general education and nursing courses will be accepted for transfer.

RN-MSN students complete the standard course work in the MSN program. In addition, the RN-MSN student must also:
An Associate Degree in Nursing or a Diploma in Nursing (with a minimum equivalent of 30 semester hours of nursing education) from a program accredited by the National League for Nursing. Graduates of non-accredited nursing schools may request special consideration.
Successfully pass the registered nurse licensure examination.
Complete 52 credit hours of designated general education and support courses in accordance with the A&M-Corpus Christi University Core Curriculum transfer policy requirements and the Baccalaureate in Nursing Degree requirements for prescribed support courses.
A minimum last 60 hours grade point average of B (3.0 on a 4.0 point scale for unconditional admission.
Approval for admission to the RN/MSN program by the Admission/Progression/Graduation Committee.

Prior to beginning master’s-level course work, the student will complete the following prescribed coursework:
Successfully pass the BSN Level Competency Health Assessment Check Off Examination (NURS 3335)
Nurse as Caregiver (NURS 4524) - Completion through Challenge Examination
Nurse as Research Consumer (NURS 4318)
Nurse as Coordinator of Care with Community Health Clients (NURS 4560)
Nurse Coordinating Care as Leader and Manager (NURS 4470)
Nursing as a Discipline and a Profession (NURS 5302)

Description : The RN to BSN/MSN program of study is an online accelerated option for the experienced, highly qualified RN who holds an associate degree or diploma in nursing and who wants to obtain an advanced degree in nursing case management. Core curriculum requirements for this track are identical to the requirements for the BSN degree. The RN to BSN/MSN option decreases the time required to complete requirements for both the BSN and MSN degree programs. RNs who meet the criteria for the RN to BSN/MSN track are allowed to apply for early admission to the UA Graduate School while completing the BSN degree requirements. The RN to BSN/MSN program of study requires the completion of six to eight semester hours of courses in each of the six semesters required for this track. Post BSN or Post MSN Students:
Applicants who have an earned BSN or MSN degree and seek admission to the School Nurse Certificate Program must:
Submit completed application along with the $35 application fee
Provide official transcripts from all colleges and universities attended
Provide course descriptions for nursing courses or college catalogue (to verify course content) for each undergraduate and graduate school attended, other than La Roche, during years of attendance
Have a cumulative QPA of at least 3.0

Submit a personal essay that addresses the reasons for seeking school nurse certification and a statement of future professional goals
Have a minimum of one or two years nursing experience: pediatrics, maternal-child or trauma/ER nursing preferred

Currently Enrolled BSN Students:
Students who are currently enrolled in the BSN Completion Program at La Roche College and who apply to the Certificate Program must:
Submit completed application ($35 application fee waived)
Have a cumulative QPA of at least 3.0.

Submit a personal essay that addresses the reasons for seeking school nurse certification and a statement of future professional goals

Submit copies of current Pennsylvania RN license, CPR certification, professional liability insurance and completed health form (including verification of Hepatitis B immunization)

After acceptance, before beginning coursework:

For NSG 430 — physical exam, current immunization status including Hepatitis B, RN student professional liability insurance.

Exit Criteria
Successful completion of ED 210 and 15 hour practicum (minimum C grade)
Successful completion of NSG 430 and the 100 hour practicum (minimum C grade)
Student portfolio review which includes: 1)assignments which document attainment of state mandated competence, 2) exam with a passing score of C or above
Satisfactory attainment of practicum objectives
Successful achievement of school nurse end-of-program objectives.

End of Program Objectives School Nurse Certificate Program

Upon completion of the School Nurse Certificate Program, the student will be able to:

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Program at Gardner-Webb University offers two programs of study designed to meet the needs of nurses seeking expanded roles in their profession: Nursing Education, Nursing Administration. The MSN Degree with specialty concentration requires 30 to 36 semester hours of graduate credits. In addition to the three areas of concentrated study, the MSN program offers the MSN/MBA dual degree and the RN to MSN option.

The Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Education is designed to prepare students to become professional educators in an academic or health care setting. This program of study allows students the opportunity to enhance their clinical expertise from a theoretical perspective and to apply nursing education and learning principles in practice settings.

The Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Administration is offered in collaboration with the Graduate School of Business. This program of study seeks to prepare the professional nurse for leadership roles in health care organizations.

The RN to MSN program is designed to facilitate an accelerated and integrated progression from the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) curriculum to the Master of Science in Nursing curriculum. This program of study allows nurses to apply six hours of graduate course credit to the BSN degree.

The MSN/MBA dual degree program is a 63 semester hour program. This interdisciplinary program combines nursing leadership with a working knowledge of business and managerial skills.

The courses in the MSN programs of study are offered in a logical sequence from the core requirements of theory, issues, research, statistics, and caring to courses in the major area of concentration. Elective requirements allow students to expand their educational perspective to other disciplines. The MSN educational experience culminates in a capstone course requiring the application of knowledge in a thesis or project.

The Master of Science in Nursing program is designed to provide opportunities for students to practice professionally within a global environment from an interdisciplinary perspective with a diverse population. Furthermore, the specialization of practice areas allows the nurse to integrate knowledge from administration and education with the theoretical underpinnings of nursing.

Entering freshmen and transfer students complete a four-year curriculum leading to Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Upon satisfactory completion of the program, students are awarded the BSN degree, and are eligible to take the NCLEX exam for licensing as a registered nurse (R.N.).

For Registered Nurses who wish to attain the BSN degree, our “Flex-Track RN to BSN Online Program” allows RNs to attain their BSN degree entirely online. For BSN prepared nurses, the College of Nursing also offers an MSN degree program completely online. Both the BSN and the MSN online programs provide an online learning environment that is educationally rewarding and designed to meet the schedule of the working student.

The degree program for the Master of Science in Nursing at The University of Toledo is designed to consider the student’s past learning, personal and professional goals, and the insights and experiences gained through practice. The MSN degree prepares RNs with bachelor degrees as Advanced Practice Nurses or Nurse Educators.

The RN-BSN/MSN degree program at Thomas Edison State College is designed for experienced RNs who want a quality education with the convenience and flexibility that an online program can offer. With open and rolling admissions, RNs can enroll any day of the year. With a self-paced schedule and no limit on time for degree completion, they can finish degree requirements at their own pace as long as they complete at least 3 credits in each 12 months. Students can earn maximum credit for prior learning. There is no residency requirement and there are many credit earning options. RNs can achieve their educational goals in a manner that saves both time and money.

RN-BSN Program
Graduates of associate degree and diploma programs of Nursing may enroll in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree only (RN-BSN program). The BSN degree program requires a minimum of 120 credits and includes nine graduate credits that may be applied to the Master of Science in Nursing program at Thomas Edison State College.

RN-BSN/MSN Program
Students may also earn both a BSN and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree (RN-BSN/MSN program) with preparation as a Nurse Educator at the master’s level. Students in this program will need only to complete an additional 27 credits beyond completion of the BSN degree requirements for their MSN degree. Graduates of the MSN degree program will be awarded a Nurse Educator certificate in addition to the diploma on program completion.

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) – Nurse Educator program prepares students to practice as nurse managers, leaders and providers of care both as teachers in schools of nursing and in healthcare settings. The program’s unique format enables Thomas Edison State College BSN degree graduates to apply the nine (9) graduate credits earned in the BSN program to the MSN degree. The program is open to registered nurses who already possess a BSN. All MSN graduates receive a Nurse Educator Certificate upon completing the program, in addition to the diploma. The MSN is a 36-credit program.

The CNS track requires 39 hours of planned sequential graduate nursing course work. The NP track requires 39-47 hours of planned sequential graduate nursing course work. Students must also complete a Comprehensive Exam in the last semester of course work.
