The Higher Institute of Nursing Sciences is a university foundation of teaching and research attached to the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) and conforming to its statutes.
In 1981, Our Lady of Help School of Nursing was set up within the premises of Our Lady of Help Hospital at Jbeil (Byblos) in order to provide a training for hospital nurses.
In 1984, the Ministry of National Education accorded it the status of Institute of training in Nursing Care, dependent on the Department of Technical Education.
In 1999, this foundation was transformed into a University Institute attached to Holy Spirit University of Kaslik and was accorded the status of Higher Institute of Nursing Sciences by virtue of Decree N° 1948 dated 21/12/1999.

The mission of the Institute is to provide a professional education at university level. This education should allow students to give all the nursing care required for the improvement of public health, the prevention of sickness and the treatment of patients, as well as to fill responsible positions in hospitals and specialized services.
Objectives

The training given is characterized by its human and professional aspects, together allowing the student:

- Home care: Directed to Older Adults, prostrate patients, chronically ill, terminally ill patients. This care includes both direct care and supervision of technical staff in charge.

- Occupational Health.

- Planning and implementation of prevention of occupational risks of occupational diseases and accidents.

BSc Nursing Studies Child at University Of Teesside

Children’s nursing is about caring for a child, whether healthy or ill. It encompasses the whole family and promotes family-centred care. It recognises that children are unique individuals. This course equips you with the knowledge and skills required to care for children and their families in health and illness. As a children’s nurse you will become an integral part of the multidisciplinary team providing the expertise which underpins care for a child at any age or development stage. You will develop your clinical decision-making and interpersonal skills, and your leadership role within the care team.

What you study

In Year 1 you will undertake a variety of modules which focus on developing your knowledge and the core skills needed to meet patients’ physical, emotional and safety needs. The modules explore:
knowledge and skills relating to nursing care, compassion and communication, including management of nutrition, fluids and medicines, and infection prevention and control
the patient’s journey through the health and social care system and principles of multidisciplinary care
clinical decision making, evidence-based practice and application of social and life sciences to patient care

Modules in Years 2 and 3 will further develop your understanding of children’s nursing and family-centred care. This will include the management of acute and planned care, long-term conditions, end-of-life care, emergency/unscheduled care and supporting lifestyle changes. You will explore the political and global influences upon child health and social care, and the quality, improvement and safety agendas and their impact upon patient care. You will also develop your personal effectiveness, leadership and management skills in theory and in practice.
