The Master of Science in Nursing (MS) program is designed to prepare nurses for advanced practice roles. Our graduates are prepared to formulate clinical, administrative or policy decisions to promote health with clients experiencing wellness, acute or chronic illness, and to develop, manage, and evaluate the care within communities and health care systems.
Our program is structured to provide a foundation for career paths for future leaders in advanced nursing practice. This program is dually accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).
The MS program offers students a choice in course offerings. We offer most required courses in both on-line and classroom formats ranging from one day a week on campus to intensive sessions of 1-3 days. Over a half of our MS courses are available online, and two MS Specialty Options are offered completely online: Public Health and Health Care Informatics.

The two-year Associate Degree Nursing Program at Ohio University-Southern enjoys an established reputation for graduating well prepared, high quality nurses. The Associate Degree Nursing Program is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing, The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, The Ohio Board of Regents, and the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission.

In September 2007 the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission, Inc. ( NLNAC ) New York, NY notified the Ohio University School of Nursing that they have received a continuing accreditation for 8 years.
Upon completion of the associate degree, the graduate is prepared to take the National Council Licensure Examination which leads to licensure as a Registered Nurse. Graduates of the associate degree program may choose to enter the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program for two additional years of more advanced education. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree Program is also offered on the Southern Campus.
The Campus
Ohio University-Southern is a Regional Campus of Ohio University ( Athens ) offering predominantly the first two years of general studies and including eleven associate degree technologies, selected upper division and graduate courses, and non-credit adult and continuing education courses. Approximately 1900 students are enrolled on this campus.
An appointment with the Associate Director of Nursing and a tour of the campus are recommended. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree offered at Aquinas College is in collaboration with the University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) and Saint Mary’s Health Care. The curriculum is built upon a foundation of liberal arts and theoretical sciences. Liberal arts/general education and nursing courses will be offered at Aquinas College. The program educates students to work in primary care settings and agencies, clinics, schools, as well as hospitals. Students are educated to work with community leaders, teachers, parents and physicians to improve the overall health of communities.
Additionally, individuals, families, and groups in health education, disease prevention, and health promotion are an integral part of the program. Because of its broad scope, this program is unique in West Michigan. It requires four years of study, including all class work at Aquinas taught by Aquinas and UDM
faculty, and clinical experience at Saint Mary’s Health Care and other facilities throughout West Michigan. Students are also placed in paid cooperative positions earning both income and college credit. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from University of Detroit Mercy, which is recognized for its excellence by major health care employers. The program is fully accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC)and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

The Associate Degree Program in Nursing at Darton College is approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing. The Nursing Program is also accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Information regarding nursing programs may be obtained by contacting the NLNAC at 61 Broadway 33rd Floor, New York, New York 10006, (212) 363-5555. It is a five semester program planned to prepare the graduate to function as a nurse in first-level staff positions in hospitals and comparable agencies. After successful completion of the Associate in Science in Nursing degree, graduates will be academically eligible to write the state licensing examination and to practice as a registered nurse. The state Board of Nursing has the right to refuse to grant a registered nurse license to any individual who has been convicted of moral and/or legal violations specified in Georgia law.

A baccalaureate degree with an upper-division major in nursing from an NLNAC or CCNE accredited nursing program (graduates of non-accredited schools will be evaluated individually).
A minimum GPA of 2.70 (4.00 scale) overall or 3.00 on last 60 hours of earned credit.
Successful completion of a course in basic statistics, with a grade of C or above.
Current unencumbered license as a registered nurse in Arkansas.
Submission of Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores prior to admission.
At least one year of direct patient care clinical experience within the last three years as an RN prior to enrollment in the clinical courses. Based on the applicant’s recent clinical experience, the applicant might be required to take an independent clinical practicum course prior to enrollment in the clinical courses.
A completed application packet which includes a resume/vita, written statement of professional goals, reference, verification of clinical practice, and copy of RN license.
An interview with Program Director or designee.
Note: Conditionally admitted students are ineligible to receive financial aid, including graduate assistantships, loans/scholarships, and Nurse Traineeship funds.

Students are admitted to the programs in fall and spring semesters. To study full-time, applicants to the nurse practitioner tracks should apply for fall admission. Part-time plans of study are available for both fall and spring admission cycles. The nurse practitioner programs prepare primary care nurse practitioners.

Complete the B.S. equivalency coursework prior to entering graduate studies. The RN-Master’s of Science (M.S) degree program provides the opportunity for experienced RN’s to build on previous education and nursing experience and pursue graduate studies. An undergraduate program of study is individually determined through an evaluation of the applicant’s professional portfolio to make it possible to matriculate as quickly as possible into the M.S. program. The baccalaureate equivalency is pursued as non-degree status, and the B.S. degree is not awarded. This program is accredited by the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education ( CCNE).
