BSN to MSN Nursing graduate programs are designed for licensed registered nurses who want to advance their education and earn a master’s degree. Graduates who earn a masters (MS) or PhD in the field of nursing can become family nurse practitioners, clinical nurses, nurse managers and more.
Case Management Nursing graduate programs prepare students research and analyze data, while coordinating patient care from clinical aspects to insurance issues. Graduates with a masters or PhD degree in case management nursing can become independent consultants, nursing care managers, researchers and more.
Nursing graduate programs aim to integrate theory, research, experiential knowledge and evidence-based practices into nursing. Graduates with a masters (MS) or PhD degree in nursing may choose to become family nurse practitioners, nurse educators, clinical nurse specialists, nursing administrators and more.
Graduate programs in School Nursing teach students to provide health services within a school setting. School nursing graduate programs involve the study of safety, prevention, screening, documentation and social work. Graduates with a masters (MS) or PhD degree in school nursing can become school nurses, nurse educators, school nursing administrators and more.
Admission to the Minnesota State University, Mankato (MSM) College of Graduate Studies and Research (CGS&R).
BS/BA degree** from an CCNE/NLNAC accredited school of nursing as verified by transcript sent to the CGS&R.
Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 or higher on a 4.00 scale. If GPA <3.0, the student’s Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores must be submitted along with the application; alternatively, an on–campus written essay scheduled by the School of Nursing Graduate Programs may be required.
Current RN licensure with eligibility for licensure in Minnesota.
One year of experience as a registered nurse (required for CNS and FNP programs only).

In cases where applicants have similar qualifications, special consideration may be given to applicants planning to serve currently underserved populations populations, including rural and inner–city communities.
**Associate degree or diploma nursing graduates who have a baccalaureate degree in another field and can demonstrate equivalency in leadership/management, research, and public health nursing theory and clinical are also eligible for admission. These competencies can be met by completing the appropriate undergraduate nursing courses at MSM (of which the majority are available primarily online) or their course equivalents or by portfolio.
***An interview may be required as part of the application process.

Students must complete 45 units of study in order to complete the FNP option, 36 to complete the Administration/Management and Clinical Faculty options, and 68 units to complete the MSN/MBA program. Students in any of the graduate programs must have computer access and an email address while enrolled in the program. Communication between faculty and students by email is continuous.
They also must have Professional Liability Insurance while in any practicum 151 Muisc / Nursing Graduate Programs and Courses course. Information on how to obtain the insurance is available at the Office of the Department of Nursing in Heafey Hall, room 628. Student performance in clinical practice courses is appraised using a “pass” or “fail” system. Student achievement in all other courses in the master’s programs is based on the established grading system of the University. About the Programs
Nursing was an integral part of the Parker Memorial Hospital Training School, which served as the University’s first hospital in 1901. Although a nursing program was not officially established until 1920 within the School of Medicine, MU graduated its first nursing class in 1904. Sixteen years later, the Curators approved a Graduate Nursing designation. Today, the Sinclair School of Nursing provides a rich and rewarding learning environment for our students. Our faculty include knowledgeable and skillful teachers, respected scholars and researchers in the nursing profession, and experienced, caring practitioners.

Doctorate of Nursing
Specific components for the College of Nursing graduate programs are included in the WSU Graduate School application. Prerequisites for master’s program: bachelor’s degree in nursing, minimum of 3.00 GPA from undergraduate work, recent history-taking and physical assessment skills, completion of a basic statistics course, Washington State RN licensure or eligibility, and recommendations addressing the applicant’s professional nursing competence and ability to succeed as a graduate student. A written or personal interview is required. Prerequisites for doctoral program: master’s degree in health care field, minimum of 3.50 GPA in master’s program, statement of professional goals and research interests, example of scholarly work, resume, letters of reference, and transcripts of former college work.
The Texas A&M Health Science Center College of Nursing, located in College Station, was created in response to the severe nursing shortage across Texas. With a nursing work force as well as a large population that is aging and ready to retire, it is vital to the state of Texas to help increase the number of registered nurses. The mission of the College of Nursing is to educate professional nurses of today and leaders of tomorrow through the provision of excellent educational programs in nursing. The college will identify, attract and graduate students of high potential who will be eligible for The National Council Licensure Examination for R.N. Licensure. The mission of the college will be enhanced through faculty contributions to community service, leadership, practice and research.
Degrees Offered
There are three tracks for the baccalaureate degree.
Bachelor of Science: Requires two years of prerequisite courses and two years of nursing curricula.
Accelerated program: For those who have already earned a bachelor’s degree in another field of study.
R.N.-to-B.S.N. program: Allowing registered nurses with associate degrees to complete additional course work for the B.S.N.
