B.S. in Nursing Program Option at Denver Health Sciences Center

Bachelor of Science in Nursing program consists of two options – Traditional and Accelerated. The same 66 nursing credits are taken for both options. All deadlines are the same for both options.
Traditional Option: This program is a full-time program only. The pace of this program facilitates integration of learning and acknowledges that students balance a number of responsibilities while completing their nursing education.
Start Dates: Every Summer session and Spring
semester of the following year.

Application Deadlines: Priority Deadline: August 31.

Priority candidates are among the first round of candidates to have their admission files evaluated and are notified of the admission decision in early December. All priority candidates who are not selected under priority review are automatically reviewed again during the final review. Final review candidates are notified during the first week of March
The application must be submitted electronically no later than August 31
The application fee must be postmarked no later than August 31
All transcripts must be postmarked no later than October 1 to quality for the priority review

Final Deadline: November 15.

Final deadline applicants are allowed to complete pre-requisites beyond the application deadline and still qualify for admission. Please see “BS Application Information” in the quickbox for more information. Notifications will be mailed to final deadline applicants during the first week of March.

Accelerated Option: Applicants who have earned a bachelor’s degree by August 31st, for the priority deadline; or by December 31 for the final deadline are eligible for the accelerated option. There is no expiration date for the degree. This is a full-time program only. This accelerated pace requires a more rigorous schedule, but also promotes enhanced synthesis and integration of program content.

The Nursing Division offers three options for obtaining a bachelor’s degree:
Traditional Option: High School Graduates. This option is designed for students entering directly from high school who want to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Traditional Option: Transfer & Second Bachelor’s Students. (Full-time and part-time). This option is primarily for transfer students who have successfully completed their prerequisites and/or for students witha previous bachelor’s degree who have completed their prerequisites and would like to pursue a degree in nursing..

RN to BS Option: Registered Nurses. This is an accelerated program of study for registered nurses with a diploma or an associate’s degree education wishing to earn a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Nursing Undergraduate at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville

The School of Nursing offers a bachelor’s degree with a major in nursing for non-nurses with or without a previous college degree, and for registered nurses with associate degrees or diplomas in nursing. The program prepares a generalist in professional nursing, and graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN examination for licensure as a registered nurse. The state-approved program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, and provides a foundation for graduate education. The three baccalaureate program options, traditional, accelerated and RN-to-BS, are guided by the same student outcomes, but reflect the learning needs of students with varying academic backgrounds.
Accelerated Option (Bachelor of Science)
The Accelerated BS Option is an intensive four-semester, sixty-nine semester hour, 15 month Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree program designed specifically for students who already have a bachelor’s degree in another area of study. FAQ
Traditional Option - Program for Licensure (Bachelor of Science)
A traditional 8 semester program for first-time college attendees who are admitted as nursing students in their sophomore year. FAQ
RN to BS Option (Bachelor of Science) Online
Registered Nurses with an Associate’s Degree may complete the RN-BS program which includes eight nursing courses in addition to general education courses. FAQ
Non-Degree Seeking Programs for Undergraduate Students
Gerontological Nursing
This 12 credit hour program features online courses intended for registered nurses who supervise or provide direct care for older adults.
Option in Nursing Management
This 12 credit hour program provides basic knowledge in nursing management without the requirements associated with the pursuit of a degree.
School Nurse
This internship program provides a basic foundation in the school nurse field. This internship is offered during the spring semester, starting in January and ending in May.
Honors
SIUE Honor’s Scholars Program
The Honors Scholars Program helps outstanding students plan individualized academic programs. It enables talented students to study in one or two academic areas in depth, or to explore a variety of courses outside their major. The program serves students from all disciplines.
